Find an “Angie” and help them., September 22, 2010
This review is from: The Gentlemen’s Club: A Story for All Women (Kindle Edition)
When you read this book “The Gentlemen’s Club: A Story for All Women” by Becky Due, the first thing you try to figure out is how something like this happens to someone. As “Angie” shows throughout her life, it is a series of events. There will always be several issues that we don’t talk about and some things we don’t allow ourselves to think about. I do believe it is the subject matter that is hard to approach with other people.
Sexual abuse, rape, molestation, and physical abuse is something that needs to be dealt with and discussed openly. They are subjects that should be discussed with each other and in groups that include the young and old. The more these subjects are approached, the more everyone will be able to educate others. The message should be clear that there are ways out and people are available to help you. The author, Becky Due is very descriptive and the character uses strong language.
How can someone let it go so far? There are people who will take everything in and finally see their own breaking point and stand to fight. There are many “Angie’s” out there. In the end, you will read about power, hope, self respect and most of all self redemption. When you see or notice an “Angie” find a way to help them.
